Here's a short list of deadlines for residencies, call for papers, job opportunities & lots of different things you can apply for that have a connection to China. RESIDENCIES + FUNDING:

Banyan Commune in Guangzou is calling for local and international artists and collectives for fully funded month-long residencies to work on projects visual, participatory, and public engagement projects, including installation, video, sounds, performance, and events. Apply before July 31.

Chronus Art Center in Shanghai is calling for proposals for their Research and Creation Fellowship, seeking for artists working on "Augmented Virtuality" in the fields of immersive experiences, physical computing interfaces, sensory immersion, mixed reality systems, robotics, interactive spaces, among others. Apply before August 8.  

Asia New Zealand Foundation is calling for applications for various residency programs taking place throughout 2018. One of the residency programs takes place at I: project Space in Beijing. Apply before 5pm on August 14.

Red Gate Residency China Residencies (that's us!) are calling for all kinds of creatives from any part of the world to propose projects around the theme of "care" for the 4th Crystal Ruth Bell fully-funded residency in Beijing this winter. Apply before July 17.

Untitled Space in Suzhou is having open call for "intercultural exchange program between Iran and China, for artists of the two countries" in collaboration with Yaqoot Gallery in Iran. Artists in all fields are encouraged to apply before August 25th.   

Dong Dong & Lulu have an artist residency open call for Beijing, Nanjing and Ordos. Apply before August 31

Ming Contemporary Art Museum Museum McaM in Shanghai is launching an open call for their overseas curator residency program. The open call is looking for 2-3 young, independent curators interested in executing projects related to China and globalization during a two-month stay in Shanghai and other cities in China. It will cover implementation costs for the exhibit, living expenses and housing. Read more and apply before August 31st here.

Asian American Writers Workshop is asking for submissions to their new Transpacific Literary Project, an editorial initiative seeking to foster connections between East and Southeast Asia, the Asian diaspora, and a broader American reading public by publishing fiction, non-fiction and poetry from Asian writers based in the Pacific Rim. Sanbao Ceramic Art Institute in Jingdezhen accepts applications on an ongoing basis. You can apply here

CEAC in Xiamen has residency programs that are open to artists, composers, architects, curators, designers, fashion designers and writers. Applications accepted on an ongoing basis, apply here.

IFP is calling for artists, curators and scholars who are interested in taking part in TETRIS, a two year long-term research & curatorial project. Read the full call & apply anytime.

The Hong Kong Art Gallery Association's Artist Residency Abroad Funding Scheme provides up to HK$15,000 for Hong Kong artists seeking artist residencies abroad. Applications accepted on a rolling basis and reviewed quarterly, and artists should apply to their own residency programmes prior to applying.

PAPERS, WORKSHOPS, RESEARCH:


Wing On Wo & Co and Henry Chang are hosting Chinatown Writers Workshop in New York City from September 17 to October 8. Apply by August 1.


FESTIVALS + EXHIBITIONS:

Members of Shanghai-based Niao Collective, Xiao Ke x Zi Han are holding a call for participants for the INSTANT Niao Niao Festival taking place in Shanghai July 22nd - July 23rd. Any proposal that meets their requirements will not be rejected but there is consideration for limited space and time. Apply before July 15.
